Rosa Et Al is a stylish boutique hotel with airy suites, a garden, and a bar. The seven-roomed townhouse offers a homey atmosphere and design-centric details. Co-owner Emmanuel, also the chef, serves locally sourced and organic breakfasts. Sustainability is prioritized with low-energy light bulbs, low-flow taps, and available bikes for exploring the city.
Very chic boutique hotel with a unique concept. The place not only offers room but also a store with local produce and a really nice restaurant. We were surprised at how good the food was! We didn't really like that the receptionist had to double as a waiter too, but it did work. In summer there is also a big garden that is lovingly decorated. The rooms are very big and luxurious - the bed linen is sooo soft. The bathroom is gigantic and so cozy. And the little balcony offers a wonderful view over some backyards. The area is very quiet but it doesn't take you longer than 10-15 minutes to be in the city center. The only thing that should be noted is, that this is an old building, meaning there is no elevator and the floors squeak and creak quite a bit. If you are sensitive to that kind of noise, pack earplugs.

We enjoyed staying at Rosa et Al Townhouse in Porto. The Townhouse is located near many shops, parks and points of interest. The front office sells local produce and numerous packaged goods including nut butters, tahinis, and other spreads, a few packaged flours, cookies and bread crisps along with cookbooks. The rooms are a bit form over function. They look gorgeous and are aesthetically pleasing but a few functional things made it less comfortable. For example having hooks to dry out towels would be useful, a dresser to put clothes into, and a full sized ironing board. The staff was incredibly nice, warm and welcoming. We stayed in the garden unit which was quiet and private. There is a great outdoor area with a lounge area and a shower. My only complaint about the room is one we were notified about when checking in- the water heater is having some problems. The shower never got above lukewarm, and it took 5-10 minutes to reach that temperature which felt very wasteful. The kitchen was good and we enjoyed breakfast there each morning. It was fun to visit with other guests also dining (if you are feeling open to it), the back garden area is also very peaceful.

Cozy coffee stop for a typical rainy day in Porto.Worth your while, their menu is complete and their bread is delicious. The staff is super friendly - Pedro and Evandro rock - I hope to stay in their B&B in the future!

We attended one of the biweekly supper club events organized by Rosa et al, it was not at this location (they announce the exact location the day of the event). We had a fantastic time. We went in for the experience and ended up enjoying the dishes more than we expected. The wine and non alcoholic drink pairings could have been better but it was not a deal breaker for any of us. I will definitely check out their next events.

Rosa et al is a great choice for a short break in Porto. It’s a calm and comfortable place to come back to after a busy day with lovely relaxed service. It’s a little way out of the centre (20 mins approx to edge of old town) but that didn’t bother us, it was actually perfect as it is a 10 min walk to the best area for restaurants and bars.Pros- Stylish rooms in a clean, airy and comfortable environment. We had the Queen City heritage room on the 2nd floor and it was lovely.- Friendly relaxed staff. They didn’t bother you but if you needed something they were right there. There were only a few rooms so everyone always knew who you were- there are no room numbers!- Brunch was very good- interesting and extensive menu.- I had a great massage in my room which I was able to have organised with short notice.Cons- I agree with some other reviews that the rooms are a bit form over function. Our toilet flush didn’t work the whole time we were there- we had to manually stop it flushing by taking off the cover. We were told it would be fixed but it never was. The shower is a roll top bath that you get into, this was fine for us as a young couple but I think anyone less able bodied would struggle climbing in and out when it’s wet. The air conditioning was quite weak- we had it set to 19 but it never got past 22 for the time we were there- the room was always a bit too hot.The floors are incredibly squeaky- I have never heard such a squeaky floor in my life. Consequently you could hear the guests above you when they got up in the morning and started walking around, and in our room we couldn’t go to the loo in the night without waking each other up. I get it’s an old building, but there are lots of old buildings that don’t have squeaky floors.Overall I would really recommend Rosa Et Al- there are just a few things that would take the hotel from good to great.

It's such a lovely and beautiful hotel. Although it's not a new building, it's a remodeled hotel with history, and I loved experiencing Porto's architecture. There was no elevator, but the staff were very helpful, so I was comfortable during my stay. Everyone recommended the breakfast, and it did not disappoint—I really enjoyed the brunch. There are many restaurants, cafes, and local stores from various countries around the hotel, making it a great place for morning and evening walks. If I come to Porto again, I definitely want to stay at this hotel!

We stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay, near by many design stores and not too noisy neighborhood. The staff are very friendly and easy check-in experience. Especially love the room design and very spacious. We got the coffee from the bar and it was great, I would stay again in this hotel.

Like others, I was not aware the loft is not apart of the actual hotel. Rosa et al has a responsibility to make this more clear to customers who are from out of town and not familiar with the city. The loft apartment itself is nice, but when you’re expecting a hotel stay with access to the courtyard, breakfast, etc, it’s disappointing to be booked in an Airbnb. The customer service was very poor - baggage had to be held at the hotel until check in, and no transfer was offered across town to the loft.

Wonderful gem of a guesthouse in Porto. Their breakfast is to die for and the rooms are spacious and quiet. The staff was very caring and all around lovely.

Read reviews before booking! For the price of this "hotel," you can easily find a better place to stay.- The place reeks of the awful restaurant downstairs- Constant street noise- Confusing emails with unclear directions- A toilet that doesn’t work and has no door- Mold in the shower- A rude, ill-mannered ownerWhen you try to resolve any issues, you’re completely ignored!Once you've paid, you're stuck, and your vacation is ruined! This place might have been decent 10 years ago, but definitely not in 2024.Oh, and I’m sure they’ll reply with some long-winded excuse justifying their rudeness! The owner and staff are nothing but unprofessional and uncultured!

The townhouse has a lovely and unique interior design. The garden suite looks fantastic and gives you enough space to relax. Rain showers included. When it comes to the brunch an pizza, all I can say is that it surprised me every single day. I ordered every day a different brunch from the french or British style section as well as one sweet brunch. The quality of the food and the spices summed up perfectly. And the weekend pizza with soft backed potatoes and mustard was mind blowing. To mention is that the ingredients are from local suppliers and everything is being prepared fresh in kitchen every day.The service level was extra ordinary and I could say that we somehow became friends. It’s a very special treatment and amazing experience. In addition the townhouse is located perfectly close in the centre of Porto.

*****ALERT*******DO NOT STAY AT THE ROSA ET AL TOWNHOUSE LOFT. Get an AirBnB or stay at another hotel. We arrived to the Loft on April 19 to discover that the toilet flush was not working. There was no water going into the bowl upon flush. Upon taking a 10 minute shower, all hot water was gone and didn’t get hot again until next morning. We immediately reported these issues to Rosa Et Al staff the night we checked-in. We were told that housekeeping would arrive the next day to troubleshoot and fix the issue. We left the next morning on a day trip up the Douro, fully expecting house keeping would stop over and fix the toilet flushing issue. When we were en route back from day trip I contacted hotel staff to confirm toilet had been resolved. The message I received back said the following:“They already check and this is what happend,So, for the hot water there are two taps, the one on the left side regulates the hot water.About the toilet, the left side flush does not work, so use only the one on the right side.”Given this, we expected that at a minimum the toilet was flushing. But when we got back to the apartment we found that not only was the toilet not flush, but no staff had even come over to look at the issue. The message from hotel staff was a lie and we still had a broken toilet that wouldn’t flush.I then had to go into plumber mode and fix the flushing issue myself. Not exactly what I planned on doing during my vacation. We asked hotel staff to refund us a night for all the trouble and they refused citing that they had no previous reports of the toilet not flushing. This was completely disingenuous and dishonest as their staff had already admitted that there were previous issues in messages to me.Overall the quality of the Loft was also shoddy. There were broken tiles in the shower. The sliding door into the bedroom area was broken. The tv and decor was all in the floor. The pictures below should help visualize the state of things in this expensive dump of an apartment.Do yourself a favor and don’t stay at any of the Rosa Et Al properties. They are poorly maintained and staff is dishonest and unhelpful.

Our two nights in Porto were amazing, though the accommodations were so thoughtfully designed and comfortable that a small part of me wanted to just stay at the townhouse all day. Our room was beautiful, the brunch menu was delicious and veggie packed, and the wine pours were interesting. Every member of the townhouse staff was hospitable and eager to make our experience better—we were given great advice on how to make the most of our time in the city.

This was our first stay on our honeymoon after a 15 hour journey. We arrived at 1am, picked up the keys from the hotel desk (no attendant), and took a 10 minute Uber to the serviced apartment location. We used the keys to open a large gate in front of a sushi restaurant. The apartment was lacking in comfort and style: rock hard bed, toilet didn't work, and the tv was on the ground (odd). Around 10am, I notified the hotel via WhatsApp that the toilet wasn't flushing. They asked me to keep trying, to no avail. An hour later, we had read the reviews on Google of the loft serviced apartment (separate from this location) and found many others had this issue too. Five hours passed until I heard someone would fix the toilet, but by then we had already booked another place. This just wasn't something we wanted to deal with on the first few days of our trip. They may have been able to fix it, but we did not trust this based on the reviews, and we couldn't take that risk. Unfortunately, we lost out on two nights of $, but I think we saved a lot of headache. The new Airbnb we booked was superior in comfort, cost, location, and service. We dropped off the keys the same day and reception offered us a glass of wine for our troubles, which was kind, but we haven't received a refund. Oh well.

Please look very closely before booking your reservation here. The Loft unit is not at this hotel. As a matter of fact, it’s essentially an Airbnb across town. So if you are looking for a hotel experience, look elsewhere. It’s very unclear when booking (my confirmation email even lists the physical hotel address- not the actual unit). With this room there is no housekeeping. You are required to clean up and take the trash out yourself. Additionally, it’s a 10 minute car ride from the actual hotel. I sent an email to them about how we felt this unit was falsely advertised, but still have not heard back from the hotel. Please be wary when booking rooms and make sure you know exactly what you are getting when booking a room at this hotel.

Beautiful quiet boutique hotel. Staff is so warm and helpful. We had breakfast in little cafe downstairs every morning and it was alway perfect. This was our second time staying there and it won’t be the last.

This is the WORST hotel I've ever been to in my entire life!- the hotel is located on a loud street. It also is very poorly soundproofed and you can hear EVERY sound from your neighbors- the bathroom is no separated room, because there is a sliding door, but no roof (so you can not only hear your partner going on the toilet, but also smell :-) which is super annoying)- as the bathroom is not separated, the room smells very moist and that shows on the walls- the toilet didn't even work and wasn't flushing, so considering the whole facts, we COULDN'T EVEN GO on the toilet! That problem wasn't fixed during our 6 days stay at the hotel- the air conditioning system was not working at all and it was very hot during the night. Due to the loud street we also couldn't sleep with opened windows. We contacted the staff various times about the issue and they didn't fix it (despite they said, that they have fixed it. It was still not working and our neighbor in the other room had the same issue)- the rooms are not functional and there are no additional items in it (there are no tables to put your things on in the bathroom, no TV, no mirror, no umbrellas...)- everything falls apart and isnt renovated (door knob is broken, windows don't close accordingly, mirror is broken, the bathtub filing falls down every time you want to take a shower, the walls are dirty and moist)- the cleaning stuff was entering our room at 8 o'clock in the morning when we still lay in bedWe contacted the staff and the manager about all of the issues I've described here. We proposed to leave the hotel, if we would get a refund, because paying 200 euros per night for a room like this isn't reasonable. They refused to pay us back a refund and they didn't make ANY OFFER AT ALL for all these issues!!! Not even one night for free, changing the room, a free breakfast etc... There would have been many ways to make things up, but paying 200 euros per night is for this "5-star hotelroom" is absolutely ridiculous and I think the sad truth is, the staff knows that. There are many guests complaining about various sorts of issues with their rooms and the hotel management doesn't do anything to meet their claimed standards.Despite the huge amount of money we've spent, we then decided to just leave the hotel earlier and try to have a good time somewhere else instead and don't let them ruin our holidays. Wouldn't recommend it at all and it unfortunately downgraded our experience at Porto. Please don't support any rip-offs like this hotel.

The most honest place in a home is the kitchen. I was reminded of this at Rosa et al, where guests are greeted with a bounty of oranges and vegetables and jars of jewel colored jams. This was a perfect and well-designed homebase to explore Porto’s artistic neighborhood. It may not be for everyone: the design retains the old world proportions with modern touches so don’t expect an elevator to match the beautiful wide staircase or the temperature of a overchilled American office. The architectural thoughtfulness is reflected in the elegantly spare rooms: tall shutters and linen curtains enabled deep untroubled sleep without the overuse of ugly shades and technology, and the closet/coffee bar smartly wraps around the partially enclosed bathroom. It’s the perfect use of space.Rosa et al extends its philosophy in the neighborhood. Next door is a well-curated lifestyle store, and Early Cafe is designed with the same respect for space and proportion, with large windows that bathe freshly baked bread in golden light. I enjoyed the most perfectly prepared eggs, wheat sourdough bread and avocado in lime juice and a cup of soft and strong sheep cheese that came with a spoon. I wished for a longer stay to enjoy more meals there. The staff was consistently warm and friendly, most striking of all a lovely and friendly woman with the steady grace of a guardian angel. It was only at I check-out that I learned she is one of the two owners! Thank you for your choices and waking my senses.

I went to Rosa et al for breakfast/brunch - the coffee was very good and the food so tasty and delicious. I got the mushrooms omelette and didn't regret it. I also ordered the scone and the wait to get it (about 25 min) is worth it - it was freshly baked, arrived warmed and could have easily had another one :) The service is impeccable - the waiter was attentive and very kind. I can't recommend this place enough.

We paid 200€ per night here for the worst hotel experience. We checked out earlier with no compensation.1.The Toilet is IN THE ROOM!!. On the photos provided the website you can't see this. They are not giving you any information beforehand. The bathroom is seperated only with a slide door, but no celling! You can here your partner going to the toilet. The Toilet flush also stopped working which happend to other guests before as you can read in the reviews. Also you can HEAR the toilet flush filling up with water every few minutes because the bathroom is not seperated from.the bedroom.2.Air conditioning did not work. The room was warmer than outside. I told the staff 2 times! Nothing happend. They told us that the technician did not come. In other reviews you can read the same complaint. Imaging staying a couple of days in hot summer without air conditioning. You can't open the windows because of smog and noise from heavy traffic.3.Very noisy. You can hear everything from other people talking and walking outside your room. Also you hear the street which has massive traffic, the people on the next floor walking, people speaking at the reception and on the streets.4.A lot of the interior and infrastructure is run down but they sell it as a special boutique hotel. They got the audacity to ask for more than 200€ per night for this show.We wanted to cancel when we realised on our check in day, but they did not cooperate, refund or showed good will at all. They did nothing to ease the situation or showed any kind of compensation or goodwill. On top of that, the food is very expensive by the way.

Really exceptional guesthouse. One for the foodies and design enthusiasts. Staff were super lovely and accomodating of our dietary needs, even baking fresh gluten free bread. The mushroom omelette will live on in my memory for a long time! The garden pavilion was incredible. Location is walkable to everywhere with lots of cool independent stores and bars all around. Front desk gave us the most incredible restaurant recommendation. 11/10 thank you team!
